The name Cysgod y Garn literally means " in the shadow of the Garn". Garn being the name of a very old farmhouse that used to be close to the site of this house, but has since fallen derelict. This luxury accommodation is of traditional stone build with the convenience and warmth of modern facilities. Stones from the old farmhouse have been used to build Cysgod y Garn.
Our family have been farming this land for two generations, and we are currently rearing sheep and the famous Welsh Black cattle. Frongoch is steeped in history, Abraham Lincoln is a direct descendant of one of the families who lived at the farm. The 17th Century saw the owners of Frongoch deeply involved with the turbulent and violent beginning of the Quaker movement. Also on our land is the site of the 1,800 Irishmen who were interned after the Easter Rising of Dubin 1916. Our guests are most welcome to visit the farm during their stay, farm tours are available on request.
